Feature area: Connected Tools / Quality Workflows
What shipped
Cumulus now supports direct Bluetooth capture of Meg Testing results from BLE-enabled Megger devices. When a field technician runs an insulation resistance test, results transfer automatically into the platform with no manual entry or transcription.
Workflow Integration:
Test requirements are defined upfront in the Cumulus Workflow Builder using your site’s procedures and enforced in the field. Crews follow the approved procedure step by step, with the system verifying each stage of the test as it is performed. Tool calibration is confirmed before test execution to ensure valid results.
Realtime Data:
Test parameters and results are captured directly from the tool, including voltage, duration, meter ID, technician, timestamp, and pass/fail status. Failed tests are automatically flagged and tracked through resolution. Commissioning reports are generated directly from captured data.
Supported devices at launch:
Megger MIT1525/2, MIT1025/2, MIT525/2 with BLE. Additional devices are in development.
Why we built it this way
Meg Testing is a foundational QA checkpoint in electrical commissioning, but the data has historically lived outside the system of record. Field crews trust their Megger readings. The platform should reflect that same level of trust.
We built this to work the way the field already works. No new steps, no added friction. Connect the tool, run the test, and the data is captured automatically. The result is a low effort, high trust process that improves the experience for technicians, QA, and commissioning teams alike.
Everyone knows the phrase “trust, but verify.” With Cumulus, the field provides the trust, and the platform provides the verification. Every test is captured, validated, and traceable without adding work in the field.
BLE was the right approach because it is an added capability built into the tools crews use today. There is no need to change how work gets done.
What's next
We are continuing to expand support for additional Megger tools, including upcoming integrations such as the IMT100X. Our goal is to support the full range of insulation resistance testing equipment used across data center projects.
We are also working with additional hardware partners and trusted brands to bring BLE-enabled handheld insulation resistance testers and multifunction testers into the platform.
Known constraints
- Supported devices at launch are MIT1525/2, MIT1025/2, MIT525/2 only
- Additional Megger and Snap-on tool integrations are in development and should not be referenced as current capabilities in external-facing communications until released.
